Payment validates product-market fit

The true signal of product-market fit is ultimately having people open up their wallets and pay you.

Product market fit is a sort of thing where you absolutely know it when you see it, and therefore if you don't absolutely know it, you don't have it.

"Sucking sound" refers to strong customer demand that naturally pulls people toward your product, indicating product-market fit.

The two questions you ask yourself the day after we listen to this podcast is, 'Hey, are we scaling a product? We have customers that love us and we have a tremendous sucking sound? Or are we trying to find that customer sucking sound?' And if the answer is, 'We're still trying to find it,' and then you're like, 'Is your evaluation hundreds of millions or tens of millions?' and if the answer is hundreds or more and you're still trying to find that sucking sound, you're an ex-growth company.

If you got a product that retains well and you can't find more users for it, I don't think that's product market fit.
