My design mantra is always design something for someone. It is very hard to design everything for everyone because you just end up with a very generalized solution. So then what we are trying to do with the opinionated solution is that that's the best solution or at the most optimized solution we think of.
Design for someone specific, not everyone
Discovery → Design Thinking
If you want to make it simple, in your journey of building a product, we basically say this is iteration to iteration to iteration. You add features and you add features until you add the features that people are using. What you really want to do next is remove the rest of the features that people are not using because they're adding complexity.
Rather than literally digitizing what came before, if you can create an entirely new experience, it answers the question for a new customer, why should I give this the time of day?
